Telephone advice

You may feel that you would prefer to seek advice over the telephone rather than visiting the surgery. You will normally be able to reach a doctor between 11:15 – 11:45 or speak to a nurse. If they are not immediately available you may be asked to ring back, but we will only ask you to do so once before taking your telephone number and returning your call as soon as possible.

Your appointment

However you choose to contact us we may offer you a consultation:

  • by phone
  • face to face at the surgery
  • on a video call
  • by text or email.

Appointments by phone, video call or by text or email can be more flexible and often means the doctor or nurse can help you sooner.

Sometimes our patients may feel that they only want to see a female doctor.  If this is the case, please speak with a member of our reception team who should be able to arrange this for you at another practice with whom we are federated.  Please note that these appointments may not be available as quickly as those with Dr Doski.

To cancel your appointment:

If you need medical help now, use NHS 111 online or call 111.

NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.

Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.

Extended access hub – Ley Hill Health Centre

The Extended Access Service is an extension of your usual primary care service. It makes it easier for you to get an appointment at a time that suits you, this includes evenings and weekends.

This service offers appointments at times over and above those currently available, including on weekdays until 7:45pm and also some appointments on Saturdays and Sundays.  Please ask reception to book. All Extended Access appointments are pre-bookable, routine primary care appointments with a range of clinicians including GPs, nurses and health care assistants.

This is not a walk-in service – you must book an appointment through the reception team at the Ley Hill Health Centre, in the usual way and you will need to attend:

College Green Medical Practice – Health and Wellbeing Centre, 1 Bristol Rd S, Birmingham B31 2GH

Extended hours appointments – Bournville Surgery

Along with our usual opening hours, we offer our patients extended access appointments at evenings and weekends. These are available at our local SDS MyHealthcare Hubs including River Brook Medical Centre.

To book an extended access appointment, please speak to one of our receptionists.

Please tell us:

  • If there’s a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer to respond.
  • If you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone, face-to-face, by video call or by text or email.
  • If you need an interpreter.
  • If you have any other access or communication needs.

If you are housebound and need an appointment, we will do a home visit. We will phone you first to understand what you need.

To request a home visit, it’s helpful if you phone the practice between 8:00am and 10:00am {{phoneNumber}}.
